Well, the San Diego Comic Con is going on, and the announcements about Mattel and Diamond Selects' lines for the next year are coming out.
http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtop ... 26495&f=54After twenty two years, somebody is finally making a figure of Vigo Von Hamburg Deutchendorf. To this day it amazes me that it took this long--you think there wasn't a Ghostbusters based toy line at the peak of it's popularity running in 1989 that would want the virtually guaranteed sales of a tie-in from a major motion picture.
Other than a Janine figure, this is the thing most likely to make me break my boycott on fighting Mattel's server and it's White Screen of Death. But we'll see...issues below may affect that decision.

Unveiled today at San Diego Comic Con the latest in the Ghostbusters prop line up from Mattel. This year it is the Ghostbusters Ghost Trap! No official details will be known for a day or two, but for now we hear it is aiming for a Halloween release 2011.
I'm not as excited about this as I was the PKE Meter, but it's still cool. The bitching at GBFans hasn't been as massive as you'd think. Yet. But just wait until the day to order them actually comes and the traps aren't teleported to their mailboxes the second the credit card clears.
And from Diamond Select's Minimates...

Diamond Select Toys has their Ghostbusters display up at San Diego Comic Con 2011 and it includes two new Ghostbusters items to be available in the next year. The best news is of the Real Ghostbusters Minimates Series 3, which features the guys as the ghosts from the Real Ghostbusters episode "Citizen Ghost".
I hope to get the Series I RGB Minimates soon, the box set with Egon, Ray, Office Janine, and a Slimer. I'll definitely get Venkman and Winston when they come out in Series II--Louis I can pass on. The Anti-Ghostbusters will be cool too.
In other news, there was a "leak" of the 2012 Club Ecto exclusive figure, apparently via a Mattel webmonkey who revealed a page too early. And the big deal is...
The Rookie.
I guess I can see the appeal from Mattel's standpoint. All they need as far as new tooling is concerned is a head and possibly a Proton Pack if they give him the "upgraded" pack from the Video Game. But on the other hand...they make a figure of this nameless cipher when
important character like Janine and Dana haven't made the line yet? If neither of those two (particularly the former) are announced for next years regular line, Mattel officially sucks big, floppy monkey balls as far as I'm concerned.
